If you'd like to help, please contact April@sconnect.org.

Intern Needed to Create a Whatcom County 'Green Office Guide'

We are looking for help to create a Sustainable Connections Green Office Guide.   The guide would be built from an already existing Green Office Guide published by Sustainable Industries.  Our goal is to build a local Whatcom County guide so businesses could green up their offices while using local resources and supporting local businesses.  Ideally a volunteer or intern would research & provide a comprehensive list of local companies including text and photos for the guide into In Design.  If volunteer is not proficient in In Design, we could produce the guide in 2 phases.  1- would be to research and create text and photos into word & 2 – create a printable guide via In Design.

If you are interested, please contact Mariah at 647-7093 x105 or Mariah@sconnect.org.

Graphics Intern

We are looking for someone with Adobe In Design experience to help produce event posters & handbills, assist with publication production (Member Directory, Coupon Book, Local Food & Farm Finder) and other program materials as needed. Ideally this person would work in our office. We have a strong brand so are looking for someone willing to gain experience in producing materials, but not necessarily creating a new look for those materials. If you are interested please e-mail april@sconnect.org.

Online Video Intern/Volunteers

We are looking for someone who is willing to edit down video footage from our events and produce short clips for us to use in advertising or recapping the event on our website. If you are interested please contact april@sconnect.org.

Event Interns

One of our most common volunteer/intern opportunities is helping to plan and prep our big events. Some of these include: Spring Business Conference (winter/spring), Home & Landscape Tour (spring/summer), and Eat Local Week/Kindred Spirits (summer/fall). We also have smaller Green Building tours & workshops, Farmer/Chef tours & workshops, and Sustainable Business Practices workshops throughout the year. Ideally someone will be in our office two days per week for 2-4 hours each time and will be able to see the event through from the initial planning stages through to the actual event. If you are interested please e-mail april@sconnect.org with the event/program you are most interested in and any relevant experience.

Data Entry Assistance

We are often in need of people that can come into the office periodically to help with data entry. Specific projects include: inputting Farm Map data, updating Membership info, entering Event Attendance as well as other one time projects.

General Website Assistance

We have quite a few small projects that we could use help with on our Sustainable Connections website. You don’t need html experience, but some website experience is preferred (or at least a knack for quickly learning new computer programs). Some photoshop experience is also useful. These include updating information about past events, publicizing upcoming events, adding new information to our Sustainable Practices online handbook and general help cleaning up some areas of the site.
