Business Pledge Checklist
If you have a business in Whatcom County and haven't yet taken the Business Pledge but would like to do so, call Mariah Ross at (360) 647-7093.
The Business Pledge checklist is used by pollution prevention teams to help your business identify practices that reduce pollution. It is broken into three sections: minimizing solid waste, minimizing hazardous waste, and preventing water pollution. The boxes next to each practice are used to indicate whether: 1. you already use the practice, 2. the practice is something you could do, or 3. it doesn't apply.
Your business might already be using many of these practices, but you'll probably find some you're not doing yet. When we've completed the checklist with you, those practices that you've indicated are possible but you're not currently doing make up your Pledge "To Do" list.
After your Pledge visit, which lasts about 30 minutes, you'll get a copy of our Business Pledge Manual, which further explains the concepts behind the items on the checklist and lists resources you can use to implement them.
Businesses that take the Whatcom Watersheds Pledge are making a commitment to start using as many of these practices as they can to improve our water for the enjoyment of fish and humans! In return you receive free recognition in local newspaper advertisements and publications, and a business pledge plaque to display in your store or office. There are no fees or requests for money.
