Energy efficiency is creating and sustaining jobs in an industry that has been hit hard by the recession. This program is one of many across the country putting people back to work and helping transition into a greener economy.
Benefits to Contractors
The Community Energy Challenge supports the growing workforce of energy efficiency contractors by providing educational resources and training opportunities through the Building Performance Center. Please check here for information on upcoming trainings.
The program also eliminates the resources contractors
spend on finding customers by coordinating projects and providing direct leads after a
home energy assessment has been completed. (All projects receiving CEC incentives and loan opportunities must begin with a CEC home energy assessment.)
How to Get Involved
All of the contractors working with the Community Energy Challenge responded to a request for qualifications that we put out to the Whatcom contractor community. We received many excellent applications and it was a very competitive process. Though we can only support seven contractors at this time we are excited to extend these opportunities to additional contractors as spaces become available or our capacity expands. If you would like to receive an update when there are new openings, please send an email to communityenergychallenge@oppco.org. Thank you for all the good work you do!
