2012 is Sustainable Connections 10th Anniversary!
We can't believe how fast the past 10 years have gone by and we're so impressed by what our community of LOCALS - local businesses, community leaders and enthusiastic citizens have accomplished over these past years. As we reflect on past successes and dream about what else is possible we invite you to join us for these Top Ten Events & Publications not to be missed! Together we can continue to model and shape a strong economy and community built on sustainable practices.

1. All Members Meeting

All Sustainable Connections members, their employees and their families are invited to this celebration of another great year of accomplishment. We'll peek ahead to next year's projects and hear about some special opportunities as we kick off Sustainable Connections 10th Year Anniversary!
2. Whatcom Food & Farm Finder
Released Saturday, April 7th
Local Farms & Food businesses at your fingertips! Find over 100 local businesses, offering everything from arugula to pumpkins, locally made wines and beers to heritage turkeys, fine dining to casual fare and one-stop shopping locales. Your official guide to Eating Local First in Whatcom County!
3. Future of Business Conference
April 26th & 27th
Join us for inspiration and hands on tools for a thriving business at the best business conference in NW Washington!
4. Imagine This! Home & Landscape Tour
June 23 & 24
The 10th annual Home & Landscape Tour brings you the BEST in sustainable materials, affordable design, and eco-friendly construction. TOUR beautiful, innovative and sustainable northwest homes and landscapes.
5. Independents Week
June 30 to July 6
This Independent’s Week, exercise your freedom to choose and make an extra effort to shop at local, independently owned businesses.
6. Bank Local First!
Details are currently being developed for our newest campaign, Bank Local First! Look for tools and information about moving your money to a local financial institution and the personal and financial benefits for you and our community. Campaign to launch Summer of 2012.
7. Eat Local Month / Discover Whatcom Farm Tour
September 8th
Every September, Eat Local Month is a flavorful and festive celebration of local food. On September 8th, check out the fantastic, free and family friendly self-guided farm tour!
8. Where the Locals Go Coupon Book
All year long! (2012-2013 book released in November)
Pick up a copy, or two of the 'Where the Locals Go!' coupon book to save on products, services, experiences and unique offerings that our locals have to offer. Your purchase of this book not only saves you money on the items you need and want from Locals but supports the important work of the Think Local First campaign!
9. Buy Local Week & Bid Local First Online Auction
November 23 to December 1We're asking community members to "Shift Your Shopping" to local, independent businesses for their holiday shopping. As little as a 10% in your shopping (only one out of 10 purchases) is a small amount that can make a big impact keeping even more of your hard earned money local. This year's 10th Annual Buy Local Week will be highlighted by the Annual Bid Local First! On-line auction featuring unique, one-of-a-kind local experiences.
10. Thousands of Thanks
September 27th
This evening celebrates our supporters & sponsors who have contributed at least a thousand dollars in the past year. It's also a chance to get a sneak peak of the coming year's programs. Contact us for details on upgrading your membership, program sponsorship opportunities, or making a donation.
