A Sustainable Connections style workshop focused on the construction and benefits of green roofs at a residential scale. As part of the Ten in ’10 Initiative, the City of Bellingham has launched a Green Roof Initiative along with adjoining policy (AMM 303 Vegetated Roof) making green roofs a streamlined construction practice. This workshop will integrate attendees into a hands-on experience to learn the methodologies of low impact development through the installation of a green roof.
Attendees will take away:
- Engineering and design ideas
- Material selection
- Suitable waterproof membrane/drainage
- Appropriate plant/soil medium
- Maintenance expectations
Local experts onsite to discuss helping you with your Green Roof questions and needs. Wear appropriate clothing; this workshop will have you playing in the dirt!
