Green Materials Networkshop
BELLINGHAM, WA – Sustainable Connections teams up with Bellingham Green Drinks to host a Green Materials “Networkshop” on February 1. The event is an opportunity for homeowners, architects, contractors and designers of all disciplines to explore materials through the intersection of art, science, industry and product design.
“Choosing a material is one of the most fundamental decisions a designer makes, and it has a profound impact on the aesthetics, function, and sustainability of your commercial and residential project,” says Nick Hartrich, Green Building & Smart Growth manager at Sustainable Connections.
Participants will hear from six regional material providers on why material choices have as significant an environmental impact as the aesthetics of design.
Combining Bellingham Green Drinks, the local monthly gathering of environmentally minded people hosted by RESources for Sustainable Communities, in collaboration with the Green Materials Workshop will allow attendees to network with designers and contractors in all fields, build their green building IQ, and learn why materials impact every type of project.
“Nature is the first builder, cleverest designer, and the wisest architect,” says Rob Lewis of Earth Craft Painting and a workshop presenter. “By using green materials, we not only honor their natural source, but benefit from their natural strengths in terms of resilience, healthfulness and beauty.”
Free beverages are provided and attendees are encouraged to bring their own drinking vessel.
