Transformational Lecture Series: Connecting Cities to People
BELLINGHAM, WA – On October 13, join the City of Vancouver, BC’s Director of Sustainability, David Ramslie for an event and talk that presents the ‘human factor’ in cities as the medium to address pressing environmental issues to create a “living future.”
The event is the second in the transformational lecture series, hosted by the Cascadia Green Building Council and Sustainable Connections’ Green Building and Smart Growth Program.
With international agreements and peer reviewed science failing in broadly motivating a response to climate change, it is now cities that are taking the lead in developing meaningful climate change initiatives – with an economic development lens and utilizing opportunities through green jobs and green technology. In this talk, Ramslie addresses ‘the human factor’ in cities and describes citizens’ roles such as occupants’ roles in reducing building energy consumption.
In addition, hear from University of Washington design students present
their award-winning "living city" prototype for Bellingham's waterfront,
as a part of the Living City Design contest. An evening not to be missed.
