ideal
For over 10 years, ideal has offered beautiful design pieces, thoughtfully curated and one of a kind. Owners Kathleen & Lisa strive to provide everyone who walks through their door the best customer service experience possible. Customers are all encouraged to take a break, a deep breath and as much time as they want to peruse or thoughtfully choose the perfect gift they’ve been looking for. You can find all kinds of goodies at ideal, from a beautiful Stendig calendar to a Marimekko umbrella, plus unique kitchenwares, kids games, books, and jewelry.
Not only does ideal support local artists and craftspeople but they actively collaborate with a variety of local businesses, non profits, students and more. Maybe you’ve seen their annual ReMade project with Western Washington Universities Industrial Design program? Students take repurposed materials and use them to design gorgeous accessories, tools, and kitchenware that is then sold in the shop. They are dedicated making sure Bellingham’s downtown feels lively and inviting. Each year they give a lot of time and energy to engage in events put on by the Downtown Bellingham Partnership, Sustainable Connections’ Think Local First Campaign and Allied Arts of Whatcom County, Make. Shift Art Space and the Bellingham Human Rights Film Festival.
Beyond thinking local, they’re active participants in the Toward Zero Waste campaign and have spent hours properly disposing material from shipments. We are so lucky to have ideal as part of our Bellingham business community, helping to make our place one of the best places to live, work, and play.
