Green Home Tours & Talks are Back in Person for 2023
BELLINGHAM, WA, May 12, 2023 | Sustainable Connections’ 21st annual Green Home Tours & Talks on June 3, 2023 will be back in person! There is nothing quite like walking through a beautiful, healthy, eco-friendly home in person. From accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to duplexes and single-family homes, this year’s tour showcases an impressive variety of home styles.
Designers and builders alike have captured the true essence of the Pacific Northwest through innovative and energy-efficient homes such as Forest House Above the Bay from Bellingham Bay Builders. The beautifully tiled entryway in this all-electric home highlights the natural surroundings. Bathed in sunlight, the Forest House appropriately features solar panels on its durable metal roof.
Forest House Above the Bay is one of five homes showcased on the tour this year. Don’t miss out on all of the homes offered by Instinct Builders, [bundle] design studio, Envision Residential and Commercial Remodeling, and Bellingham Bay Builders. Tour-goers can meet the builders and designers who envisioned the stunning homes at each stop on this year’s tour.
“This year, the community will have the opportunity to see some of the most high-performance homes in Whatcom County. We will have three detached accessory dwelling units, Whatcom County’s first certified Passive House, a high-performance duplex, and a net zero energy home!” explains Katy Coleman, Program Coordinator & Energy Advisor.
A unique addition to this year’s event is the workshops being led by CAZ Construction and The Community Energy Challenge. Anyone who has an interest in green building, energy efficiency, or architecture will not want to miss these workshops!
Attendees can purchase tickets online ($10/person) for the self-guided tour and workshops or at any stop on the day of the tour. Details about the homes and workshops can be found on Sustainable Connections’ website including a mobile-friendly map, photos, site descriptions, and a directory of local businesses that provide home and landscape goods and services. Printed guides are available as well on the day of the tour at the tour stops. We encourage folks to bike or carpool if they can!
