Volunteer with us!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Sustainable Connections! If you have specific questions about our volunteer opportunities, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Annika. The best way to stay in-the-loop on our current volunteer opportunities, is to subscribe to our once monthly volunteer newsletter below, or to become a “fan” of our Volunteer Center of Whatcom County page. We couldn’t do this important work without the help of our amazing volunteers!

Food Recovery Program

We’ve got an amazing Food Recovery Program that collects surplus edible food from restaurants and delivers the food to hunger relief agencies. Cut down on carbon emissions, keep food out of the landfill, and feed community members experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers are always needed to keep this program running smoothly. All you need is a vehicle to participate! Sign up today here!

North Fork Freedge

Have you heard of a Freedge? It’s a refrigerator stuffed with surplus free food and open to the public. Help transport food to the North Fork Freedge located at the North Fork Library in rural Kendall, WA. Together we can help bolster food security and reduce climate change. Sign up today!

All Opportunities

From showing off the greenest built homes in the county on the Green Home Tour, to greeting guests at our variety of conferences, to connecting folx to farms during the Whatcom County Farm Tour, we’ve always got great ways to get involved.
