BELLINGHAM, WA, August 21st, 2023 | Sustainable Connections is back again with the annual Green Building Slam taking place on September 22nd, 2023! This year’s Slam will be hosted at The Underground Nightclub, a fun, non-traditional setting to get your networking groove on. Entry to the event will include dinner and the opportunity to network with presenters, sponsors, and other green building professionals and enthusiasts!

The Green Building Slam attracts builders, homeowners, energy efficiency experts, real estate professionals, and architects from all over the Pacific Northwest. No matter your level of expertise in the green building industry, the event is sure to inspire and educate folks on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in our communities.

This year’s event will feature speakers from whose firm has been chosen to design the new sustainable Mount Vernon Library Commons building. Sustainable Connections is also excited to host Corix Utilities Inc. who will be working locally on Bellingham’s new waterfront district energy project. Emerald Cities Collaborative will also be joining in on the fun with Monica Guevara, their Economic Inclusion Manager. If your interest lies in policy, former State Representative, Beth Doglio, currently a Senior Fellow at Climate Solutions, will surely peak your interest. Last but not least, we welcome our neighbors from the north; Gord Johnson with Northstar Clean Tech to speak about asphalt shingle recycling, and Alexandre Hebert manager of the Zero Energy/Emissions Buildings (ZEB) Learning Centre at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Sustainable Connections Energy & Green Building Coordinator Katy Coleman, is looking forward to this year’s Green Building Slam. “Although each speaker’s presentation will share inspiring stories, projects, and technologies from throughout the region, I’m particularly excited to hear the presenters share innovative and unique projects that are close to home. These include the Mount Vernon Library Commons and Bellingham’s waterfront district energy project. As the Northwest Region is known for leading green building initiatives, it is truly amazing to see our smaller communities such as Mount Vernon and Bellingham follow our region’s leaders in the push to reduce carbon emissions in the built environment.”

Don’t miss out on this exclusive networking opportunity hosted by Sustainable Connections’ Energy & Green Building Team.  Attendees can purchase tickets for $40 ahead of time or with cash at the door.
