Bring your own cup for to a local coffee shop!

As summer enters full swing, we’re emerging from our shells and connecting with our community in fresh ways. Our team is hard at work on projects that help make this community the most sustainable and regenerative it can be, and we’re excited to share some of them with you!

Have you heard about our Coffee Crawl happening through June? It’s one of several Think Local First campaigns that bring more customers through the doors of our beloved local businesses. Have you seen the little green caddies around? Our Towards Zero Waste program has been working hard to distribute compost caddies and waste sorting guides to 12,000 Bellingham residents who are new to Foodplus curbside compost services.

We’ve had big wins for our Housing and Smart Growth initiatives! Mayor Lund recently signed the Interim Ordinance on Middle Housing, and Parking Reform passed on the state level, paving the way for more affordable housing options. Four small businesses and nonprofits just received electrification projects, thanks to our Energy & Green Building team — and they haven’t stopped there! They’re currently planning 2025 Green Building Tours; stay tuned for more details.

Of course, none of this would be possible without your support, and we’re grateful to be part of such an incredible community. We’re also excited to share new ways to stay involved—like joining our monthly giving club, Local Lovers, to keep this work going strong. Becoming a Local Lover is easy, you can set up a monthly recurring donation for as little as $5 and you’ll get access to community events, local branded goods (new enamel reusable mug, anyone!?), and quarterly updates!
