Eat Local First is a year-round way to connect farmers and food businesses with collective local marketing support, and a label to help all eaters find and eat more local and seasonal food.

We’re working with local restaurants, retailers and food artisans who commit to purchasing more local, nutritious food from farmers and fishers, and serving it to you. And, we ask you to support these businesses making a difference in our community!

Shift your dollars to local—make an impact in our economy

Right now, only about 2-4% of the food we eat here in Whatcom County eat is actually grown or raised Whatcom County. What can you do to help? Eat local first!

A long term shift to 10% of our food coming from local farm products grown, caught or made here would mean $50 million more circulating back into our local economy each year!  Ask yourself: “how much local is in my shopping bag or on my plate”? … and lets connect the dots with edible links to our place, our neighbors and the seasons.

Click to see list of the rock star Eat Local First participating businesses and let them know you support them because they buy local food. Click on the EVENTS link for the most up to date way to get connected and FIND LOCAL FOODS for plenty of easy ideas.

Dig in! It’s a guaranteed to be a tasty feast.

Look for Eat Local First logo at restaurants and retailers, farmers markets and farm stands!

Stay connected, from farm to fork.
