Love-ly Skyr Waffle Recipe
This Valentine’s Day, say ‘I love you’ with waffles! And not just any waffles – homemade waffles packed full of local ingredients and delicious flavor. Whether you’re cooking for a friend, family member, romantic partner, or yourself, breakfast-in-bed is a guaranteed way to put a smile on anyone’s face. A plate of these waffles (and a sweet local bouquet from Humble Bouquet) is the perfect way to kick off the season of love! The secret ingredient in these waffles? Local skyr from Steensma Creamery, which will make your waffles pleasantly tangy and fluffy.

Ingredients:
- 3 eggs from Ten Fold Farm
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 cup Steensma Creamery skyr yogurt (plain or maple both work well)
- ¾ cup flour from Cairnspring Mills
- Butter
- Love
Toppings!
- Apple butter from Bellewood Farms
- Blueberry confiture from Bow Hill Blueberries
- More skyr!
- Maple syrup from Neil’s Bigleaf Maple Syrup
- One of the many whimsical and nourishing nut butters from LEAP Foods
- Creamed cinnamon honey from Marie’s Bees
Instructions:
- Preheat your waffle iron
- Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl
- Stir in skyr yogurt
- Thoroughly mix in baking powder
- Add flour and lightly mix until it forms a lumpy batter (if the batter is too stiff, add more skyr)
- Grease the bottom of your waffle iron with butter and scoop in your desired amount of waffle batter
- Grease the top of your waffle iron with butter just before closing the lid
- Cook until golden brown
- Serve with your favorite toppings
