How To get Involved With Sustainable Connections
Our members are local, independently owned Whatcom County businesses, and supporters working to transform and model an economy built on sustainable practices. We, in turn, support our members with education, connections and promotion.

We are delighted you are interested in the good works of this organization. We are making major strides toward achieving our mission and people have noticed how efficient and effective we are with their contributions. We recently surveyed our members and this quote was among the responses!
“I am constantly amazed at what you are creating. You are the most focused, proactive and effective non-profit association I have ever seen. (and I used to work for several non-profit associations)"

in town. We are experiencing impressive growth in popularity of events as well as print, e-mail, website, and social media publications. Your investment in programs like Food & Farming, Green Building, Think Local First, Community Energy Challenge,
and the Future of Business Conference, provides both great marketing value AND helps our community reach it’s economic and sustainability potential.
We offer exposure to a variety of audiences at a variety of financial levels with payment plans available too. Make sure your business benefits from the exposure we can provide by becoming a Sponsor today. Click here for current sponsorship opportunities
We are always happy to have volunteers, and in fact rely on them for much of the work we do. Whether you'd like to help out in the office, help with an event or get involved in a specific program we'd love to have you.
If you're ready to get involved please start by sending in a Volunteer Interest Form.
We often have internship opportunities available for people who are looking for a more in depth experience with Sustainable Connections. Please check out our volunteer & internship opportunities for some of the roles we're looking for now.
If you are interested in interning with us please fill out the volunteer interest form (above) and submit that along with a cover letter letting us know which internship you're interested in and what applicable experience you have. Please send all inquiries to email@example.com. We also want everyone who interns with us to volunteer at least a couple of times first so you can get to know our programs better and we can get to know you as well.
We work with many organizations to accomplish shared goals. We recognize that we are but one part of the puzzle, and we value powerful partnerships. We developed these resources to help inquiring individuals and organizations determine whether there is a good fit for your current project.
Each program area has an advisory committee that works on overall program direction as well as specific event support. If you would like to be involved with any of the following committees please contact the appropriate staff person.
Food and Farming: Advisory: Sara Southerland
Sustainable Practices: Advisory: Mark Peterson
Think Local First: Advisory: Michelle Grandy
Green Building: Advisory: Rose Lathrop
