Title: Food & Farming SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Project Intern
Reports to: Food & Farming Marketing Coordinator
Location: Bellingham, WA
Status: Unpaid/Temporary Internship

Summary
The Food & Farming Program at Sustainable Connections works to create a thriving and resilient local food system. In the ever-changing world of Search Engine Optimization, there is a great need for research and implementation of SEO best practices to improve community visibility of the organization’s resources created to connect food producers and consumers, namely through the website https://eatlocalfirst.org. The Food & Farming SEO Intern will work independently and collaboratively with the Food & Farming Marketing Coordinator, and the position will require 10-20 hours per week from May to September 2020. Duties
· Conduct keyword research to drive content strategy
· Conduct supplementary Independent research to learn about current industry standards
· Learn Google’s tools such as Analytics, Google My Business and Search Console
· Report research findings and recommendations
· Draft a work plan to implement best practices as well as other strategies identified as feasible by the team
· Supervised Copywriting and editing of existing website content
· Track and analyze results of optimizations
· Other tasks within the scope of SEO or the program’s other digital marketing efforts

Desired Qualifications and Qualities
· Be working towards a relevant degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related major
· Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the mission of Sustainable Connections
· Motivated individual with a passion for learning about the world of SEO, and WordPress web integrations
· Marketing, website development, data analysis or data reporting experience desired
· Detail-oriented and analytical thinker
· Fast learner who is not afraid to make quick pivots in approach
· Strong verbal and written communication skills with a creative voice
· Familiarity with WordPress and Google Analytics
· Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Working Conditions
As we find ourselves in the midst of a pandemic, and shelter-in-place orders, this position will function remotely*, and requires the individual to have access to the following:
· Personal workspace
· Personal technological devices equipped with:
o Internet and phone service
o Basic internet browsing
o Communications via email and teleconferencing via digital applications such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
o Software applications such as Microsoft Office or Google Docs/Sheets for presenting research and data trends and outcomes
