Community Freedge

Free community refrigerator

Come Visit the Freedge!

Have you heard of a “freedge”? It is a community refrigerator packed with free nutritious food that is open to all! There are 2 Freedges located in Whatcom County, and one in Skagit County. Expect to find each Freedge packed with individual portions of surplus food from local restaurants, garden produce, and shelf stable pantry items.

Please follow these best food handling practices while visiting any of our Freedges:

  • All welcome! This food is for everyone in our community.
  • Please do not visit the Freedge if you are sick.
  • Please look with your eyes and read labels first. Do not touch what you don’t plan to take.
  • Please take only what you will eat!
  • It takes a community! Feel free to clean out any spoiled items and put them in the appropriate waste bin.
  • Wipe up any spills or messes you create.
