Sometimes our food may begin to look a little sad, like when your greens begin to wilt a bit. But that doesn’t mean that you still can’t enjoy these foods in your next meal, you just have to revive those foods! With a little bit of extra love, you can bring life back to you food and keep on enjoying!

Here are our tips to help you revive you food!

  • If your greens are wilted. Give them a quick soak in ice water for 5-10 minutes. That is usually enough time to reinvigorate wilted greens!
  • If you food has gone stale. Toast it in a toaster or regular oven for a few minutes and it will crisp them right back up!
  • If you accidentally over salted your food. Add a little bit of vinegar, lemon juice, or brown sugar to fix the problem. Or dilute it with water, crushed tomatoes or unsalted broth.
  • If you overcooked something. For example, if you overcook some veggie, puree it and turn it into a sauce. Just add stock, milk, plant milk, or cream and put the sauce on whatever you would like!
  • If your berries have gone soft. Easiest fix, make a smoothie! Just throw in your favorite liquid base and some ice and you have a delicious and healthy snack!
  • If your produce has gone brown. Just because the outside had gone a little brown does not mean that the inside won’t still be delicious! If you would like to stop the brown spots from growing just put lemon juice on the spots and it should stop the brown spots from spreading!
  • If  your honey has started to crystallized. Again, have no fear! This does not mean that your honey has gone bad, and there are a few ways you can counteract the crystallization of your favorite jar of honey. The easiest way is to heat a pan of water on low heat. Once warmed, remove from the heat and place the jar of honey with the lid off in the water. As the honey sits in the water it should begin to flow again. Cool and heat honey slowly, and make sure that the water isn’t too hot and that you keep a good eye on it!
  • If your brown sugar has become a brown sugar rock. This always happens! Your brown sugar has become hard as a rock, making it so difficult to cook with. But, the best trick is to keep moisture in the container you store your brown sugar in. Use citrus peels. A three-inch long sliver should suffice, and watch that brown sugar stay fluffy!

We hoped you learned some good tricks on how to revitalize your food! Most of the time the food can be saved and stay out of the trash can, you just need to get a bit creative. Happy eating!
